Funerals, Memorials and Celebrations of Life

Saying goodbye to someone we love is never easy. Whether you’re planning a funeral, a celebration of life or a more personal memorial, I’m here to help you create a ceremony that honours the person they were and the lives they touched.

There is no single way to say goodbye. Every person is wonderfully different, and I believe their farewell should be too.

A farewell in the way which feels right

Perhaps you want a traditional funeral with familiar readings and hymns. Maybe you’d prefer a relaxed celebration of life filled with stories, laughter and favourite music. Or perhaps you’re looking for something more personal — a woodland or natural burial, a tree planting, an ash scattering, an in-home memorial or a quiet ceremony in a place that held special meaning.

Whatever feels right for you and your family, we can create it together.

I’ll take the time to listen to your stories and memories, finding out about the person behind the dates and details. The things they loved. The people who mattered to them. Their quirks, passions, achievements, sense of humour and the little things that made them who they were. Together, we’ll create a ceremony that feels genuine, personal and full of their personality.

There can be tears, of course, but there can also be laughter. Sometimes remembering the funny stories, the familiar sayings or the wonderfully imperfect moments is part of saying goodbye too. I want you to leave feeling that the ceremony really could only have been for them.

I’m particularly drawn to ceremonies that step outside the traditional funeral setting. Being in nature can bring a wonderful sense of peace and perspective. A natural burial surrounded by wildflowers and open countryside. A tree planted in memory of someone special. Scattering ashes somewhere meaningful. Gathering outdoors to share stories and memories. These moments can be simple, beautiful and deeply personal.

But equally, I’m very happy to conduct ceremonies in crematoria, churches, funeral venues, homes or wherever feels appropriate for you and your family.
Faith, spirituality and personal beliefs. As a Christian, I’m happy to include Christian elements in a ceremony to whatever extent you would like. This might include prayers, Bible readings, hymns, blessings or other Christian traditions that bring comfort and meaning. I also recognise that everyone has their own beliefs and relationship with spirituality. I’m inclusive of all faiths, beliefs and backgrounds, and I’m happy to incorporate meaningful elements from different traditions or create a completely non-religious ceremony. There is no expectation that you have to choose one particular approach. The ceremony should reflect what feels right for you, your family and the person you are remembering.

A calm and confident presence

When you’re grieving, having someone you can trust to take care of the ceremony can make a real difference. I’m a confident and experienced speaker, having created and delivered talks in a wide range of unique settings. I’ll make sure your ceremony is delivered with warmth, clarity and genuine feeling, while giving you the space to simply be present with your family and friends.

I’ll guide you through the process, answer your questions, listen to your ideas and help you decide what feels right — without pressure or assumptions. There is no “right” way to say goodbye. Some families want something quiet and intimate. Others want to fill a room with music, stories and laughter. Some want prayer and familiar traditions. Others want something completely secular. And sometimes, you don't know what you want until we start talking. That’s okay. I’ll meet you where you are and help you create a ceremony that feels honest, meaningful and personal.

Because ultimately, this isn't about creating the perfect ceremony. It’s about creating the right one for them. A ceremony that remembers their life, honours their story and reflects the people they loved. And gives you all a meaningful way to say goodbye.

If you’re looking for a celebrant who will listen, care and help you create something truly personal, I’d be honoured to help.
